“N-naruto-kun.” Hinata stuttered, her fingers moving against each other in a nervous fashion. Naruto turned around disappointed that he had been spotted, while he was ’observing’ Sakura.
“Oh hey Hinata.” He said before focusing his gaze back to the pink haired girl, who was carrying books, most likely to Tsunade.
Hinata looked down in disappointment as the blonde ignored her. ’Come on.’ She told herself ’You promised that you would tell Naruto!’ She swallowed the lump in her throat.
“I-i l-like you-u N-narut-to.” She murmured, hiding her face in her hands. Naruto changed his attention back to the dark haired girl.
“What? I didn’t hear you.” He cupped his hand around his ear, trying to hear the quiet girl.
“I love you Naruto!” She yelled out, her face bright red. Naruto’s face turn a shade darker and he rubbed the back of his head.
“I’m-m sorry Hinata their’s someone I already like.” He looked away his glance centered toward the pink haired ninja. Hinata breath came in sharply and she tried to smile.
“O-oh well g-good l-luck.” She turned around and started running. She could already feel the salty tears running down her cheeks, the sobs racking her body. She ran by many people and at one point she ran past Shino.
“Hinata?” He called after her. She simply ran, faster. She was weak, shy, and couldn’t even get the guy she wanted. What was wrong with her? She tripped in the middle of the forest, not bothering to get up.
Her heart felt like it was breaking into little tiny pieces. She had spent so much time liking Naruto and trying to get better so he would like her. Looks like she wouldn’t have to now. Her sobs rang through the forest.
“It’s okay.” A voice said from across the field, she was in.
“S-shino-kun!” She said in surprise. She whipped her tears away, trying to make it looks like nothing happened.
“It’s okay to cry.” Shino said as he appeared to look of into another direction.   
“W-what I-I wasn-n’t cry-ying.” Hinata blubbered.
“It’s okay to be rejected and to fail because we as humans must fail to learn, and rejection can help shape you into a stronger better person. As they say ’what doesn’t kill you make’s you stronger’.” Shino looked at her sharply as if trying to tell her something. “And a rejection gives way for new love to come in.” Shino blushed slightly but Hinata couldn’t tell.
She burst into another round of sobs. The tears staining the ground and her shirt. Shino walked over and patted her head, letting her get it all out.
“It’s okay.” He murmured. “It’s okay.” He thought back to what he said and closed his eye’s. Maybe it was time for him to show his love.
